KFC launches KFConsole, will keep your chicken warm while gaming, and no, it’s not April 1st yet!

The KFConsole will take on Xbox and PlayStation and provide 4k 240fps

If you love eating while gaming, then Kentucky Fried Chicken, the fast food giant launched just the right product for you. KFC partnered with Cooler Master and launched the KFConsole. At first we were baffled by this, but no they weren’t joking and we realised it isn’t 1st April yet. There is even a brand new Twitter account going by the name KFC Gaming, and it is even verified! It proves that the console is real, and is finally happening. Oh and to top it up, you can even keep your chicken pieces nice and warm in the chicken chamber while gaming.

This KFConsole was technically first unveiled a day after the PlayStation 5 reveal event, and although many thought it may just be a fun marketing joke by KFC, the KFConsole is proved to be totally real.

Before going further, check out the announcement by KFC Gaming who takes a shot at XBOX and PlayStation, saying that the console wars are over

KFConsole design

The KFConsole’s case is built by Cooler Master, and the patented Chicken Chamber is perhaps its unique feature.

Never risk letting your chicken go cold again thanks to the patented Chicken Chamber,” The description reads. “Utilising the systems natural heat and airflow system you can now focus on your gameplay and enjoy hot, crispy chicken between rounds.”

KFC’s gaming console looks like a large chicken “hotwings” bucket, and they added a special compartment just above the heatsink which is the Chicken Chamber, and you can place an actual chicken piece or pieces in it to warm up while you’re gaming. The hot air from the heatsink rises up past the chicken chamber keeping your chicken crispy as ever!

Cooler Master paired up with KFC to launch the KFConsole. According to the Cooler Master site, the KFConsole has been forged “from the fires of the KFC ovens and built by Cooler Master from the ground up, there has never been a tastier way to experience the latest titles in stunning 4k, 240fps.”

The KFC gaming console slash PC is housed in a custom Cooler Master NC100 chassis, and appears to be powered by Intel’s Compute Element PC combined with what is supposed to be an NVIDIA GPU. Apparently, only ASUS is mentioned as the graphics partner, but the schematic they have shown lists a GeForce RTX card so I guess we are looking at an RTX 2080 or above here (probably even an RTX 2080 / SUPER or it could also be a 3000 series). The page also mentions that the console will feature 2TB of NVME SSD capability – which is more than enough to house a vast library of games.

KFC Gaming seems to have their social media strategy on point as their manager keeps taking shots at replies to the console on Twitter.

The KFConsole was supposed to launch on 22nd December, but then the hype probably fizzled out, and they decided to postpone the launch to some other day. That day isn’t known as of yet. Nor is the pricing. Hopefully the pricing will be revealed soon along with the launch date.

Unfortunately, most consoles and PC game parts like GPUs have had paper launches the past few days. There is some speculation that this too would be a paper launch, so KFConsole decided to postpone it. Hopefully they have plenty of units available to the public during it’s launch, and no shortage. Fingers crossed!
