Here is the newest challenger to the esteemed MacBook Pro and the new kid on the block who is already making heads turn, the Surface Book. Could anybody really challenge these heavyweights? Well, the Vaio Z Flip thinks it can and here’s how it goes about attempting to do that.
The design is certainly eye-catching with both, its anodized aluminum lid and carbon fibre base complementing each other to complete the look. It is both, thinner and lighter, than the MacBook Pro but packs the same processor within its body, a 3.3 GHz Intel Core i7 processor with Intel’s brand new Iris 550 graphics. The graphics power the 2560×1440 IPS display which also happens to be a touch screen. The screen also has an 8 megapixels camera behind it. A hidden horizontal hinge along the center of the display can let the screen fold down to a tablet configuration.
Sporting two USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI port and a SD card slot, this laptop surely doesn’t leave you wanting. The AC adapter that comes along with it is capable of trickle charging your phone, thanks to am additional USB port. With a touchpad that has been compared favorably to the one on MacBooks and a keyboard praised for its spacing and comfort, input on this device is never going to be a problem. Also, remember that the screen is a touch screen and that means you get a pressure sensitive stylus along with this unit.
Can the Vaio Z Flip really take on the MacBooks and Surfaces of the world? If it was priced more sensibly than the $1,799 it currently sets you back by, maybe. But as things stand now, this is only for those with money to splurge and those who want to avoid those aforementioned premium solutions, though why anyone would, is beyond us.
The design looks awesome.
