When smartphones first got to the market, the number of apps was very limited. The more it went, the better the selection became. Fast forward to 2016 and there are literally millions of apps on both of the most popular mobile platforms.
The fight has been going on for ages. Android or iOS? App Store or Play Store? Google might have just made it’s biggest leap to the future yet and could posible have answered the question for us. At Google I/O, it was announced that a new technology called Instant Apps was finally out!

What is Instant Apps? It allows the end user to browser through the play store and select an app. Once the user clicks on that app, it will open automatically and instantly. No more installing, loading and whatever else. No more wasting time. Just like a website, you will tap on the app you want and it will load. Best of all, Google has announced that this will work with any app as long as developpers change a bit of code to make it compatible. It will also works all the way back to Jelly Bean 4.1.
After you click on the app, you will be able to use it directly while it installs in the background. Everything is done in the cloud.
Google has said it would not be available immediately, but they are closely working with a small chosen group of developpers to optimize the process before it goes live.
This is change drastically how we interact with the Play Store and apps in general. With that in mind, I ask you, do you think the Play Store just surpassed the App Store?
