Audi SQ5: Beauty in the Beast

Audi has enjoyed the leadership in the field of automobiles for a long time. The previous version of SQ5 had a few minor drawbacks which were amended with the new 2018 Audi SQ5. The significant improvements include increased cargo space, a wider torque curve, and other technological additions. Audi SQ5 review gives an idea that it is a supercharged V6 engine has now been changed to a turbocharged V6 engine. Subtle changes can also be seen in the interiors of the car. The quality of materials used is better and gives a more premium look and feel.

There have been subtle but significant changes made to the new Audi SQ5’s interiors. The prominent features include automatic temperature control, power moonroof and front dual-zone air-conditioning. For an increased utility in the car, there are ample in-cabin storage spaces distributed along the front and rear. The seats are equipped with memory-settings for that added luxury. Illuminated entry makes the car look posh and convenient to enter and exit the vehicle. There is an emergency contact system which connects the driver to the Audi Care system directly.

While we talk about the exterior, there is a liftgate is for the rear cargo. The door mirrors are powered which makes it convenient for the drivers to adjust them according to the need. The mirrors are heated to aid in all-weather-drivability. The car is also equipped with a spoiler at the back. The turn signal indicators on the mirrors increase the safety of the other cars as well as the personal vehicle. For the extra cargo, there are rails on the roof.

Driving and Performance

The new model of SQ5 drops the supercharged V6 in favor of a turbocharged V6 3.0L engine which generates 354 HP at 5,400rpm rpm. The engine is located in the front of the car. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. There are different drive modes available. SQ5 SUV offers a mileage of 24mpg on the highways while the mileage reduces to 21mpg in the city. 2018 Audi SQ5 SUV offers a stiffer suspension tuning but surprisingly, it doesn’t compromise on ride comfort.

Audi SQ5 comes equipped with antilock disc brakes. It also offers Pre Sense City feature that automatically applies brakes in case of an imminent crash. This system only activates below 52 mph. The Side Assist system monitors brakes, provides steering input in traffic conditions below 40 mph. There are two front side airbags and a couple of airbags which open on sensing the occupant in the cabin. Apart from these, in case of an emergency, the ignition can be disabled and the panic alarm can also be used.

Audi SQ5 is quite roomy and can be used as a family car. With the classy interiors and accurate handling, the car is yet another success in the market. However, it does not have the speed which the rival models offer and lacks the charm.
