Off-Topic: What is CMAT and How to Apply for it?

CMAT, commonly known as ‘Common Management Admission Test’ is an entrance examination conducted on the national level by AICTE every year for taking admissions in MBA courses in the various institutions of India that are affiliated to AICTE. The test of CMAT 2017 will be conducted in the January-2nd week, 2017. Application Form of CMAT 2017 can be filled up in online mode only.

The CMAT 2017 application form will be made available from the 1st week of November in 2016 and will likely continue to be available by the 2nd week of December in 2016. CMAT Admit card for CMAT 2017 will be available online on the official website of CMAT 2017 only. The same will also be mailed to the candidates on their registered email ids.
The Result and Scorecard of CMAT 2017 are likely to be released in the 3rd week of January 2017. The candidates will have to apply for their admissions in different institutes based on their CMAT 2017 Cut Off.
CMAT 2017: Important Dates

The tentative date of CMAT 2017 is January 17, 2017. The candidates must remember all the important dates for CMAT 2017 exam in order not to be get missed by any deadline. Given below are the tentative important dates for CMAT 2017 Exam:

Eligibility for CMAT 2017 Exam-

The various eligibility criteria applicable for CMAT 2017 are expected to get released by October 2016 and will also carry other notifications required for CMAT 2017. The body responsible for setting up the Eligibility Criteria for CMAT 2017 is AICTE. Given below is the list of eligibility criteria that are applicable to admissions in the following courses- PGDM, Executive PGDM, PGCM, MBA and other similar courses for management.

  • Indian citizen is a must.
  • Passing CMAT 2017 Qualifying Examination is a must. A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline of minimum duration of 3 years from any recognized University is the qualifying examination.
  • Appearing candidates are also eligible to apply for CMAT 2017 provided their awaited results of qualifying examination should be declared before the CMAT 2017 admission process.
  • Age limit of the candidates applying for CMAT 2017 are: Lower Age Limit: 21 years. No
    Upper Age Limit: Not Declared Yet.
  • Minimum 50% marks are compulsory (45% marks for reserved category as applicable) in the qualifying Examination. (Only for PGDM, MBA, Executive PGDM and similar management courses)

Note: It is mandatory for all the candidates to fulfill all the above-listed eligibility criteria to be applicable for CMAT 2017. If in any case, the applicants fail to fulfill these eligibility criteria for CMAT 2017, their candidature may get canceled at any stage of admission process.
Exam Pattern for CMAT 2017

The CMAT 2017 is an online examination i.e. a computer system based test which will tentatively be held in January 2017. The candidates who will register for CMAT 2017 should understand the Exam Pattern of last year exam i.e. CMAT 2016. The written examination is divided up into 4 sections with 100 MCQs in total. The medium for CMAT 2017 will be English covering a total score of 400 marks.
CMAT 2017 will be the examination of duration 3 hours which will test the basic knowledge and various problem-solving skills of the candidates. Every question has only one correct option among the four options. Marks awarded for each correct answer is +4. There will be negative marking equal to 1 for every incorrect answer in every section of CMAT 2017 question paper.
