The world’s first smartphone with 6GB RAM, the Vivo XPlay 5 was officially unveiled yesterday at a special event in China.
In addition, specifications of a possible ‘Lite’ variant of the XPlay 5 was announced.
The handset will be powered by the Snapdragon 652 coupled with 4GB of RAM. It will sport a 5.4-in QHD display and will
feature a 16MP rear camera, and an 8MP front facing camera. The device will ship with 128GB of in-built and will have a beefy
3600mAh battery and also a Cirius Logic CS4398 DAC. It will run Android Lollipop 5.1.1.
For those hearing the brand Vivo for the first time, it is a smartphone maker based in China and known for its sleek devices.
Though Vivo branded phones are already available in India, it is not as popular as its Chinese counterparts like
Lenovo, Xiaomi and LeEco.
Though the phone’s specs pale out in comparison to the XPlay 5, they still are impressive compared to other offerings in the
market. If Vivo gets the pricing right, it could have a serious challenger for the market in its hands.
