Airtags

Apple introduced a unique track personalized product Airtag.

AirTag is a small and elegantly designed accessory that can be personalized with free engraving, which enables iPhone users to securely locate and track the thing that matter most valuable to them using Apple’s Find My app. “We’re excited to bring this incredible new capability to iPhone users with the introduction of AirTag, leveraging the vast Find My network, to help them keep track of and find the important items in their lives,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing.

AirTag can be placed into a bag, keys, backpack, or any other valuable items, this utilized with a wide range of Apple-designed AirTag accessories, with personalized free engraving including text and a selection between 31 emoji’s. As we know Apple is very concerned related to privacy, AirTag taps into the vast, global Find My App network and can help locate and track a lost item, by keeping the data Privacy private and anonymous with end-to-end encryption.

The Apple designed Polyurethane Loop is both lightweight and durable, and fits securely around AirTag, leather key ring features specially tanned European leather and comes in three elegant colors and also features precision-etched polished stainless steel, and is IP67 water and dust resistant. The enclosure of each accessory fits securely around AirTag, while conveniently attaching to your belongings, further personalizing AirTag while making sure it is always attached to your valuable items.

Why Airtag? What is its purpose?

The main purpose of designing Airtag was to keep track of lost item. Once AirTag is set up, it will appear in the new items tab in the Find My app, where user can view the item’s current or last known location on a map. A built-in speaker plays sounds to help locate AirTag, while a removable cover makes it easy for you to replace the battery. If a user misplaces their item and it is within Bluetooth range, they can use the Find My app to play a sound from the AirTag to help locate it. Users can also ask Siri to find their item, and AirTag will play a sound if it is nearby. Airtag supports Precision Finding using Voice Over, in which user can direct the item location with specifying directions. Precision Finding with AirTag is displayed on iPhone 12.

Precision Finding with AirTag fuses input from the camera, ARKit, accelerometer, and gyroscope on iPhone to provide a more precise, directionally aware finding experience.

If somehow the item reaches out of Bluetooth range then Siri and Bluetooth can’t be able to track the item. In that situation Find My App network comes into work and helps to track the lost item. The Find My network is approaching a billion Apple devices and can detect Bluetooth signals from a lost AirTag and relay the location back to its owner, all in the background which is done securely and data is kept private. Users can also place AirTag into Lost Mode and be notified when it is in range or has been located. If a lost AirTag is found by someone, they can tap it using their iPhone or any NFC-capable device and be taken to a website that will display a contact phone number for the owner, if they have provided one.

As mentioned, Apple is known for its Privacy Policy as well, where it promises its end user with better security. AirTag is designed from the ground up to keep location data private and secure. No location data or location history is physically stored inside AirTag. Communication with the Find My App network is end-to-end encrypted, so that only the owner of a device and Apple has access to its location data.
