Vivo’s latest flagship, the Xplay 5 is due to launch sometime today but that doesn’t mean that we’ve not already learnt plenty about it. What have we got? Pretty much everything. Specs and design. And headlining the specs is the absolutely massive 6 GB of RAM!
Before we dive into the rest of the specifications, let’s spare some time to the design that’ll house such powerful internals. The phone has a remarkably humble design with nothing that truly sets it apart except the dual curved display. Of course, a certain manufacturer has already made quite a name for themselves when it comes to curved displays and it’s not going to be easy to compete with them on that front. Metal isn’t the rarity that it was once and the capacitive buttons are something Google clearly no longer considers a part of their vision of Android though the community is still torn between the two. In 2016, when all phones are slowly starting to meld into one, design is a lot more important than specs which have clearly started to saturate. Vivo’s answer is to say that specs haven’t hit saturation yet and they say this quite emphatically by raising the ceiling with their 6 GB of RAM. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 820, which is kinda inevitable about any flagship in 2016. The other rumored specs include a 5.43 inches screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560, an 16 MP primary camera and a 6 MP secondary camera, a 3,600 mAh battery, 128 GB of internal storage and a fingerprint scanner.
While we don’t have confirmation if it’ll be running Marshmallow on launch, anything but would be a serious compromise. The skinned Funtouch OS comes with a multi-window mode.
How much of this is the truth? Guess we’ll know in a few short hours. Stay tuned and speak your mind on the comments section below.
